Fiji Adventure: 14 nights in December 2012

This great cruise leaves from and returns to Sydney and hits three gorgeous Pacific island nations: New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji. This cruise over a whole fortnight will give you the time to relax, wind down and see the best of the beautiful South Pacific islands!

The first stop after a few days at sea out of Sydney is Noumea. This is the capital city of New Caledonia, and has several lovely beaches and an urban area which mixes French and the native Kanak culture to give a unique atmosphere, cuisine and experience. The next stop is Mystery Island, a tiny and uninhabited island of Vanuatu which will be the first taste of true untouched tropical splendour! The ship then visits one more port in Vanuatu, the charming harbour town of Port Vila, before heading to Fiji with a sea day in between. Be sure to check out Port Vila's handicraft markets!

The first port of call in Fiji is Dravuni Island, a volcanic island in the  Kadavu group which is home to around 200 natives. A popular experience for visitors is a hike to the top of the island's highest mountain for spectacular views- and if you don't feel like exercising, stay on the beach and enjoy the usually perfect weather!

Next are two Fijian towns- Port Denarau and Suva. Port Denarau is often used as a departure point for day tours to the smaller islands and archipelagos which are particularly stunning in this area! Suva is the nation's capital, and its major port. Here you can learn more about Fiji, at the fascinating Fiji Museum. The University of the South Pacific is also here, and Suva has some great colonial-era architecture as well as various churches and mosques. It is a very multicultural city, with a lovely waterfront area and markets.

The ship stops at the beautiful Isle of Pines off the coast of New Caledonia before returning to Sydney with a few relaxing days at sea!
